Events and Gatherings
We invite you to join us for the listed events, as well as for the weekly worship gathering at 10:45 on Sundays.
We gather for an Adult Class at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. We will not be meeting for now.
The choir rehearses at 9:30 on Sunday mornings.
Off the Shelf Book Club
The next book to be taken off the shelf for the book club is Surprised by Joy, by C. S. Lewis. The group will meet to discuss the book on Friday, May 1st, at 10:00 a.m., dependent of course on whether the Stay-at-Home orders have been lifted. Come and share your insights and put out questions for everyone to consider.
In the Potter's Hands Gathering via Zoom (see Home Page)
Everyone is welcome to this small group discussion about topics of interest. An initial context will be provided each week, and passages from scripture will enliven the conversation, but the primary input will be from the participants. This group meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Come and share your thoughts and insights.
Bible Study No meetings at the current time.
Bible study is on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. We are engaged in a study of the Gospel of Luke, and will also continue to read a Psalm each week as an opening meditation. Come and join us.
Meditation Practice No meetings at the current time.
Our next time of meditation practice will be in March at a date to be determined. We begin with a half-hour of discussion about a topic related to spirituality and prayer, and then move into the worship space for a time of sitting in meditation, sometimes in silence and sometimes accompanied by soft music. Join us.
Personal Training No meetings at the current time.
We are blessed to have a personal trainer, Tutu Lecko, as a member of the church, and equally blessed as he graciously offers his time and expertise to us on Monday evenings. People of all levels of fitness are welcome, and Tutu will attentively work with where you are and lead you toward greater wholeness of body, and of mind as well. His encouraging and welcoming nature comes out with everyone. However, don’t mistake his wonderful attitude as meaning that we don’t work hard with him. He encourages us to become stronger and healthier, and he helps each person to push themselves in appropriate ways. Come and join us for a wonderful hour, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Monday evening. And thank you Tutu!
Scripture as Theatre Workshop
The church continues to host the weekly Saturday morning workshops devoted to the exploration and development of original theatre works based on or reflective of Holy Scripture. Meeting on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., these workshops are led by Gateway’s Associate Pastor and Artist-in-Residence Jim McGrath, a past winner of L.A. Theatre’s Ovation Award for playwriting, whose plays have been produced at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The Director’s Company in New York, the Passage Theatre in Trenton, and the Met Theatre in Los Angeles.
The workshops are open to anyone who may be interested in participating in the creation of original theatre works from scripture. There is an exploration of all possible aspects of the theatre arts, including drama, music, dance, stage design, and the visual arts.
Visit again to take note of future events.
